We started to celebrate the Dog Days of Summer by playing in the backyard. Dublyn got a kiddie pool for her birthday and she loves to play in it everyday. She does have to share it with Roscoe and occasionally with her parents depending on the heat. I'm sure there will be many more pictures from the pool this summer!

First Birthday
It's really hard to believe that a year has gone by already. Most of all we all made it through the first year of parenthood and live to tell about it! One of Dublyn's favorite songs when she was first born was "Lollipop", which was the idea for the cake. It took some time but she did enjoy her cake and lollipops and even put her feet in "her layer"! I will post the after-bath once I download the pictures :)
Florida Trip
Is there such a thing as being caught up?
Ok...so I know that I haven't posted anything on this blog for several months (since March to be exact), but I'm sure I have good reason. I'm just not sure what that reason is except to say, "Where does the time go?" I thought it would be easy to keep up with a blog even after having Dublyn, but to quote an article posted by a fellow mom (thanks, Kim), "What normally should take 15 minutes takes 45 minutes instead!"
Since March, Dublyn has gone to Florida, turned 1, remained in a rear facing car seat because she only weighs 17 pounds, and gone to Wisconsin and back for the summer. Other highlights include swimming lessons, a pool in the backyard, and visits to the playground.
I'll start posting some of the pictures here (yes, she's sleeping now which is a huge accomplishment in itself as well as giving me a few minutes before she thinks she needs to use the computer!) but this may take awhile to "catch up".

9 month doctor appointment
On Monday, we went back to the doctor for Dublyn's 9 month appointment (9 months...really?!). She was a champ as always. The funniest part had to have been the discussion with her doctor about her weight and eating habits (what eating habits?). Dublyn weighs in at a tiny 14 pounds 13 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches long. For those of you keeping track, that is in the 3-5 percentile. She is truly a peanut. Her doctor is showing me her growth chart and talking about the percentages when she stops and looks at me. "You're not worried about this are you?" My response, "I'm not if your not." Basically she is tiny but mighty and perfectly healthy. When describing Dublyn's eating habits, it was hard to keep a straight face. She likes ice cream, bread, noodles, and cheese just like her mom and dad :) She has never been overly interested in baby food and prefers to eat what we are eating. Finally after weeks of doing it already, we got the official ok to start feeding her soft table food. Mind you, Dublyn still has no teeth! After 2 shots with no crying (just a very upset face) we were on our way to the grocery store to stock up on yogurt, waffles, and meatballs. This is really going to get interesting and messy now! I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures.

Dublyn Swing Time
Dublyn really enjoys the jumper swing that Steve and Alecia gave her. Pretty funny but only watch for a minute. We have not figured out how to edit the video down for "action only".

2009 Catch Up
I realize that the last post was also titled "catch up" but it seems that the end of 2009 came and went without us updating anything. Dublyn enjoyed her first Thanksgiving and Christmas. She started to eat "big people food" as we discovered she preferred homemade sweet potatoes to the baby food ones. She's not high maintenance or anything :) We also celebrated Christmas with family in Wisconsin. Brad and I had to learn to travel in a new way that included a roof bag. Despite our best efforts, the car was completely full on the way home and we forgot a box in my parents' garage. We are still working on finding places to put all of Dublyn's toys. She's happy playing with everything which is what really matters now. A few moments of peace and happiest are worth it!
