Thinking of a friend

I know that it has been a ridiculous amount of time since I have been on here, but times have been very busy (classic excuse). However, I need a place to stop and think/write right now. Life seems to fly past and there are days that you can't remember what you did the week before. Now, I'm learning that life is precious and it is so important to stop and hug the ones you love most.

Last week I learned that a dear friend of mine is going through a time that many of us could never even fathom experiencing. My roommate from college and her husband learned their 2 year old son has Stage 4 sarcoma (terminal cancer) and was given weeks to live. There are no words to describe this situation and there are no words to say that sound "right". The only thing that feels right are the tears that I have every time I think of them, their son, and their entire family. My heart is breaking and I pray for a miracle for them. I also pray for peace for their family.

Please remember their family in your prayers. Hold everyone you love close because life is so precious.

Where have we been?

Why in the world have we been avoiding this blog? I wouldn't say we have been avoiding it but more like forgetting to take the 15 minutes to sit down and update it. As the guilt of not updating our friends and family is becoming too much to handle, I sit at home with a sick baby today and think, "What a perfect way to avoid laundry, work and classes!"

Dublyn continues to lead a busy life full of dancing, singing, swimming and playing. She's still tiny but mighty and Brad and I continue to find ways to encourage her to find her appetite. It's hard to believe that she is not really interested in eating when her parents enjoy eating so much. Dublyn's food of choice: ice cream, Go-gurts, hummus and chips. That's all the food groups, right?

Since our daughter is not much of an eater, we decided to remodel the kitchen! A huge task but a fun one now that we are nearing the end. I have to say I become more excited as we get closer to the end and I begin to use all of the new stuff.

It's time to add way too many pictures to the blog. I'll try to put them in some sort of order, but there are no guarantees for that.

Hope all is well and that you continue to be patient with my lack of blogging!

Summer Time

We started to celebrate the Dog Days of Summer by playing in the backyard. Dublyn got a kiddie pool for her birthday and she loves to play in it everyday. She does have to share it with Roscoe and occasionally with her parents depending on the heat. I'm sure there will be many more pictures from the pool this summer!

First Birthday

It's really hard to believe that a year has gone by already. Most of all we all made it through the first year of parenthood and live to tell about it! One of Dublyn's favorite songs when she was first born was "Lollipop", which was the idea for the cake. It took some time but she did enjoy her cake and lollipops and even put her feet in "her layer"! I will post the after-bath once I download the pictures :)

Florida Trip

In April, we took our first plane ride as a family (at 7:00 AM!) to go to Marco Island. Dublyn had her first plane ride, boat ride, and dip in a pool during that trip.
